Joaquin Improvement Association
I am an urbanist, social innovator, and service designer. I have worked both professionally(Office of New Urban Mechanics) and as an activist to promote civic service design. My main efforts have been to push the public sector to look beyond design as merely a tool for improving digital services. Instead, I contend that service design has the potential to create legitimate, just, and effective management and administration within the public sector through citizen co-creation. This is highly relevant at a time when citizen participation is en vogue, but often poorly conceived and executed. It is this mix of both vision and experience that I would bring to SDGC16, and which sets me apart from other speakers and writers in my field who work mostly in the realm of theory.
