Designing Relationships

admin Day 1, Items, Workshop

A Service Design Tool

How does the design of service impact our relationships? How might relationships precipitate the success of a service? Are relationship themselves, in fact, a service? How might we design our relationships? Designing services is about designing relationships. Join us for a workshop that explores this intersection. We will take a look at relational service design from matchmaking services to the invisible girlfriend and beyond. Test drive and learn to apply service design methods to create more intentional relationships of all types, using a new tool, the relationship model canvas, in a facilitated hands on activity. Attendees with all sorts of relationships welcome!

Our proposal introduces a new tool to service design methods – the relationship model canvas. Building on existing frameworks we turn an eye to a crucial aspect of any service and indeed of human life – relationships. Our innovation is to augment designers capacity to create more intentional relationships in their projects, among their stakeholders and in their own lives. This tried and tested session has been workshopped at Service Design Toronto and Service Experience Camp Berlin, with great success, engagement and interest.
