Designing to launch

admin Day 1, Items, Workshop

Using experiments to launch new business ventures

Abstract

Despite large investments toward innovation projects, corporate innovation success rates are mediocre at best. According to research by PwC and McKinsey, 75% of corporate innovation projects fail. As a result, companies come up with big innovation opportunities easily, but very few solutions make it out of an organization’s innovation pipeline. There are range barriers to innovation within these environments but we believe one key one is an over reliance on big pilots to eliminate risk and quantify the financial impact of innovations. In this workshop we will share out a framework that helps companies break down innovations into incremental live experiments that help corporations build confidence in the desirability, viability and feasibility of a new idea.

Innovation

This workshop will focus specifically on prototyping leveraging tools from other practices such as agile development and lean startup to build and launch new services. Here’s an outline of the workshop: Some strategies to overcome barriers associated with launching innovations A framework that helps people plan out an incremental set of experiments to help validate and launch and new idea. How prototyping techniques such as “Fake Doors” and “Concierge MVP” can be leveraged to very quickly get live feedback on new ideas.
