Alex has worked at some of the world’s most respected service design consultancies including Ideo and Engine, and is now Head of Design at Livework. He originally trained as a graphic designer and spent a significant amount of time working in digital media including designing the very first website for BT in 1993.
He has worked across a very broad range of industries, from healthcare to hospitality and travel to telecoms, innovating and improving services which benefit service users and businesses alike. Most recently co-designing new ways of working for the BBC, developing services for young families with the Department of Health and helping Finnish elevator manufacturer Kone develop its maintenance services.
Ask him about his dream job and he’ll talk non-stop about being part of the team that designed and delivered the spectator experience at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Alex has been published in journals in the UK and Europe and is a member of the events board of SDN, the Service Design Network, is part of the organising team of the UK conference, and regularly talks about how design can make a real difference to people’s lives in our fast changing modern world.
