Maastricht // Netherlands

Founded in 2010, the Service Science Factory (SSF) has quickly established itself as a leading player in the area of service innovation in the Netherlands. As part of the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University, the SSF has access to a wide portfolio of experts and knowledge partners. The SSF’s objective is to develop value-added services and facilitate their adoption and integration within organizations. We integrate research, education and business practice of service innovation and service design to unlock new revenue streams and increase competitiveness.
We are a proud partner of the Service Design for Innovation Network (SDIN), which is a research training network that integrates multidisciplinary approaches in service design and service innovation. Moreover, the SSF is a key partner within regional Service Innovation programs (initiated by the European Commission) that are aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry through service innovation.

We are passionate about Service Design and we use it in all projects that we execute. In projects we develop and design a new/improved service concept, which takes no more than 8 to 12 weeks. Our multidisciplinary teams have realized the transformative power of service design in a wide range of firms (e.g., automotive, high-tech, tourism) and public organizations (e.g., EU Commission, hospitals, primary schools, local government), through more than 50 projects.

The Young Talents Day is a great way to spread the word on Service Design and to make young people enthusiastic about Service Design as well. We see it as an opportunity to meet bright minds to share ideas, learn from each other and build on each other’s strengths.
